Job summary

Sherwood Staffing Partners in Hartford, CT is seeking an Audit Senior to lead fieldwork and interact with clients in a hybrid setup (3 days in the office). The position offers a base salary of $100,000 to $140,000 plus an annual bonus targeted around 10%.

You will manage audits from planning through wrap up, supervise staff, and be the primary contact for client accounting teams, with exposure to manufacturing, real estate, construction, and nonprofit clients.

Qualifications

• CPA license required.
• Public accounting audit experience (3+ years) preferred.
• GAAP and GAAS knowledge with judgment-based testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit fieldwork from planning through wrap up.
• Serve as the day-to-day contact for client accounting and finance personnel.
• Execute and oversee testing in higher judgment areas and draft financial statements and disclosures.
• Identify control and process observations and help frame recommendations.
• Supervise, review, and coach staff and interns on engagements.
• Track budget and progress and keep managers informed.

Audit Senior | Hartford, CT (hybrid, 3 days in office) | $100,000 to $140,000 base, plus an annual bonus targeted around 10%

The firm

A well established, 70 person CPA firm in the Hartford area, with an audit practice concentrated in manufacturing, real estate, construction, and nonprofit clients. Seniors run fieldwork and talk to clients directly. You will not spend a year on the same three sections of the same engagement.

What you will do

• Run audit, review, and compilation fieldwork as the senior in charge, from planning through wrap up
• Serve as the day to day contact for client accounting and finance personnel
• Execute and review testing in the higher judgment areas, and draft financial statements and disclosures
• Identify control and process observations worth raising, and help frame the recommendations
• Supervise, review, and coach staff and interns on the engagement
• Track budget and progress and keep the manager and partner informed before problems become surprises

What you bring

• Active CPA license (required)
• Roughly 3 or more years of public accounting audit experience
• Working command of GAAP and GAAS and comfort with judgment based testing areas
• Experience in one or more of manufacturing, real estate, construction, or nonprofit is a plus
• Big 4 and regional firm backgrounds are welcome and common here
