Job summary

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 5+ years public accounting audit experience including engagement leadership.
• Experience with manufacturing, real estate, construction, or nonprofit industries.
• Strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge; single audit or employee benefit plan experience is a plus.
• Big 4 or regional firm backgrounds welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Manage audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through issuance.
• Own the client relationship: scoping conversations, status updates, fieldwork logistics, and delivery of findings and recommendations.
• Set the audit approach, evaluate risk, and resolve technical questions escalated by the team.
• Review workpapers and financial statements, and handle the disclosure and reporting judgment calls.
• Manage budgets, realization, and scheduling across concurrent engagements.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate seniors and staff, and provide career-focused feedback.
• Contribute to practice growth through client expansion and referral relationships.

Audit Manager | Hartford, CT (hybrid, 3 days in office) | $140,000 to $200,000 base, plus an annual bonus targeted around 10%

The firm

A well established, 70 person CPA firm in the Hartford area, with an audit practice built around manufacturing, real estate, construction, and nonprofit clients. The work is substantive and the client contact is direct. This is not a firm where a manager spends the year buried in a workpaper queue and never meets a CFO.

What you will do

• Manage audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning through issuance
• Own the client relationship: scoping conversations, status updates, fieldwork logistics, and delivery of findings and recommendations
• Set the audit approach, evaluate risk, and resolve the technical questions the team escalates to you
• Review workpapers and financial statements, and handle the disclosure and reporting judgment calls
• Manage budgets, realization, and scheduling across concurrent engagements
• Supervise, train, and evaluate seniors and staff, and give them the kind of feedback that actually moves their careers
• Contribute to practice growth through client expansion and referral relationships

What you bring

• Active CPA license (required)
• Roughly 5 or more years of public accounting audit experience, including engagement leadership
• Exposure to one or more of the firm's core industries: manufacturing, real estate, construction, or nonprofit
• Strong technical grounding in GAAP and GAAS; single audit or employee benefit plan experience is a plus
• Big 4 and regional firm backgrounds are welcome and well represented here
