Job summary

Newman CPA, the leading national CPA firm focused on CIRAs, seeks an Audit Manager in Carlsbad, CA. You will oversee a portfolio of engagements, ensure high-quality technical reviews, and develop seniors to lead engagements with efficiency and integrity.

You’ll supervise staff, manage budgets, and maintain strong client relationships while escalating issues and guiding strategy. Growth-focused environment with training and CPA support awaits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or related field with an accounting emphasis.
• Active CPA license in good standing.
• 5+ years of audit experience in public accounting.
• 2+ years supervising and reviewing the work of seniors and staff.
• Ability to run multiple concurrent engagements on time and on budget.
• Strong US GAAP and GAAS knowledge with research capability.
• Experience as a primary client contact and delivering difficult messages.
• Strong oral and written communication and escalation judgment.
• Authorization to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

• A portfolio of engagements managed simultaneously through planning, execution, and issuance.
• Final technical review before sign-off including workpapers, FS, footnotes, and reports.
• Develop seniors to run engagements and grow staff, with honest performance feedback.
• Supervise seniors and staff, matching people to engagements per qualifications.
• Provide technical judgment on complex questions and recommend actions.
• Manage engagement economics: budgets, realization, scope, and fees.
• Maintain client relationships and present audit results to boards as needed.
• Anticipate problems and raise at-risk engagements before deadlines.
• Keep firm leadership informed with analyses and recommended actions.
• Oversee post-fieldwork wrap-up and ensure quality control notes are cleared.
• Contribute to firm growth via recruiting, training, and methodology improvements.
