Job summary

Avidex is seeking an Audiovisual Field Engineer II to join our team in Nashua, NH. The role focuses on technical commissioning, field engineering support, and documentation for integrated AV/IT systems.

You will work with project managers, installers, programmers, and clients to ensure systems meet design specs and client acceptance criteria. Ideal candidates have 4+ years in AV/IT field engineering, strong knowledge of control systems (AMX/Crestron/Extron/Q-SYS), and programming experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
• 4+ years of experience providing technical AV/IT or field engineering support.
• Intermediate experience with integrated audio, video, conferencing, control, DSP, and networked AV systems.
• Experience with AMX, Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS or similar control platforms.
• Programming experience in Python, HTML, or C# or similar.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networks and digital communications.
• Ability to travel to customer sites and work varying schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering support across equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.
• Commission and test integrated AV/IT systems and prepare punch lists through final client acceptance.
• Load, test, and edit control system code and GUI files with remote assistance as needed.
• Configure and troubleshoot AV systems including audio, video, control, DSP, and networking.
• Verify systems are complete and operating per project documentation.
• Maintain accurate field documentation and project markups; support submittals.
• Identify scope changes and communicate opportunities to Project Leads.
• Provide system training to clients and guidance to developing Field Engineers.

Position Summary:

The Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer - II provides technical commissioning and field engineering support for integrated AV/IT systems. This role combines system configuration, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure systems perform as designed and are ready for client acceptance.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, installation teams, programmers, and clients, the Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer II provides intermediate technical expertise across audio, video, control systems, DSP, and networking.

What You'll Do

• Provide field engineering support across equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.
• Commission and test integrated AV/IT systems and prepare punch lists through final client acceptance.
• Load, test, and edit control system code and graphical user interface files with remote assistance as needed.
• Configure and troubleshoot audio, video, control, conferencing, DSP, and networked AV systems.
• Verify systems are complete and operating in accordance with project documentation and requirements.
• Support control system submittals and maintain accurate field documentation, configuration files, programs, and system markups.
• Identify potential scope changes and communicate opportunities to Project Leads.
• Partner with project and installation teams to resolve technical issues and support successful project completion.
• Provide system training to clients and technical guidance to developing Field Engineers as assigned.
• Follow applicable safety standards and project-site requirements.

What We're Looking for

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
• 4+ years of experience providing technical AV/IT or field engineering support.
• Intermediate experience with integrated audio, video, conferencing, control, DSP, and networked AV systems.
• Experience loading, testing, and editing control system code and graphical user interfaces, including platforms such as AMX, Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or similar.
• Experience with programming technologies such as Python, HTML, C#Pro, or similar.
• Working knowledge of digital communication protocols, including IP, RS232, RS485, and USB.
• Experience configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
• Experience with DSP platforms such as Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or similar.
• Proficiency with AV/IT software, hand tools, and test equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, customer service, organizational, and time-management skills.
• AVIXA CTS and CompTIA A+ or equivalent certifications, or ability to obtain both within one year of hire.
• Ability to travel to customer sites and work varying schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
• Ability to safely perform field-based AV work, including climbing ladders or scaffolding and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds with assistance.
