As the Audio-Video Technician, you will need to execute skillfully and be comfortable configuring, maintaining, and installing instructional technology systems. You will be an active member of the Administrative Computing team and will work closely with the Senior Associate Director to troubleshoot technical issues to optimize systems for the ESU campus community to seamlessly use. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your Information Technology or Computer Science background and excellent communication skills all while training new users to expertly utilize the systems functions to effectively supplement their courses. To be successful in this role, you possess a strong attention to detail, a comprehensive understanding of cloud-based video conference software and independently work with minimal supervision.
Your normal hours will be Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Audio-Video Technician. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.
What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
- Responsible planning, designingand configuring instructional technology systems in smart classrooms, lecturehalls, and lab spaces according to the system parameters determined by the Directorof Instructional Resources.
- Communicates various ways todevelop programs that enable students to use technology as a learning tool.Investigates and disseminates information on best practice for technology integration,sources of information on trends, research and application related totechnology.
- Implements scheduled maintenancesystem of all campus instructional technology under the preview of the Officeof Instructional Resources and maintains inventory and replacement partsforall instructional technology.
- Develop and implement a plan fortroubleshooting instructional/presentation and video/television equipment andsystems. Interact with internal and other PASSHE universities regardingresolving technical issues involved in cloud-based videoconferencing, webcastingand other forms of digital and technology-enable communication.
- Ability to use independentjudgment in performing functions with minimal supervisor.
- Communicate and meet with users(student, staff and faculty) to rain on operations for instruction/presentationtechnology stems in classrooms, lab, meeting room and develop an easy-to understand operation manual for users.
- Responsible for assigning work to student workers as well as perform as a shift lead work when assigned to directlower-level technicians.
What We’re Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
Experience:
- One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician.
or
- One year experience providing informationtechnology support services including hardware and software installation,operation, and maintenance with a network environment, and an associate degreein any information technology field.
or
- Three years of experience providinginformation technology support services including hardware and softwareinstallation, operation and maintenance with a network environment.
or
- Anequivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year ofexperience providing information technologysupport services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenancewithin a network environment.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. andwalk up to five miles throughout campus daily, as carrying IT hardware acrosscampus will be a daily part of this role.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred for this position in a related field.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
- Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
