Job summary

The Daily Beast is seeking a Community Manager to grow and engage our audience across Substack, Reddit, YouTube, and our on-site commenting platform. This cross-functional role sits across editorial, social, audience, and product, partnering with editors and producers to keep conversations sharp, lively, and on-brand.

The role primarily covers Sunday through Thursday, based in our NYC office four days a week, with opportunities to shape our community voice and editorial tone across platforms.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in social media, community management, or digital journalism.
• Familiarity with Reddit and Substack and what drives engagement.
• Strong editorial instincts to write sharp prompts and replies.
• Analytical mindset and comfort reading data to inform strategy.
• Highly organized and able to work across multiple teams.
• Genuine interest in media and digital communities.

Responsibilities

• Build and execute a Substack community content plan to highlight voices.
• Assist with livestream production and community management across platforms.
• Contribute to the Reddit strategy with posting and commenting.
• Grow on-site engagement via OpenWeb and moderation.
• Track engagement trends and user behavior across platforms.
• Collaborate with podcast team to cut and publish social clips.
• Contribute ideas to shape the community voice and editorial tone.
