Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Handle first-party property and coverage-related disputes.
• Develop litigation and settlement strategy.
• Draft pleadings, motions and written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Evaluate liability, damages and exposure.
• Work directly with insurers and commercial clients.
• Negotiate settlements; prepare matters for mediation and trial.

The Role

The firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Houston team.

The position is 100% litigation and 100% defense, with a broad insurance defense caseload and particular exposure to first-party property matters.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
• Handling first-party property and coverage-related disputes
• Developing litigation and settlement strategy
• Drafting pleadings, motions and written discovery
• Taking and defending depositions
• Evaluating liability, damages and exposure
• Working directly with insurers and commercial clients
• Negotiating settlementsPreparing matters for mediation and trial

Salary and Benefits

• Base Salary: $130,000–$200,000 depending on experience
• Origination: 15%
• Location: Houston / Kingwood, Texas
