The ideal candidate will have a strong civil litigation background, Texas Bar admission, and at least 4 years of relevant experience; 10+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense cases from inception through resolution.

• Manage settlement negotiations and advise on case outcomes.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Develop litigation strategies and manage assigned caseloads.
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, and related documents.
• Maintain accurate case files and meet deadlines and billing requirements.

A Houston-based law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance defense litigation and be comfortable independently managing cases, working with clients and carriers, handling settlement matters, and participating in trials.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense cases from inception through resolution.
• Handle pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation matters.
• Work directly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case strategy, exposure, settlement, and resolution.
• Manage settlement negotiations and provide recommendations regarding case outcomes.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Develop litigation strategies and effectively manage assigned caseloads.
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Maintain accurate case files and meet applicable deadlines and billing requirements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Texas Bar admission in good standing.
• Minimum 4 years of legal experience, with substantial insurance defense experience.
• 10+ years of experience preferred.
• Strong civil litigation background with experience independently handling cases.
• Experience with settlement negotiations, depositions, hearings, and trial work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently while working effectively with attorneys, clients, and insurance carriers.
• Strong organizational and case-management skills.

Billable Hours

• Minimum 160 billable hours per month.
