Job description

Attendance, Communication, and Engagement Specialist

Position Summary: Working from a CCA Family Service Center, the Attendance, Communication, and Engagement Specialist implements and operationalizes CCA’s compulsory school attendance and engagement processes and supports regular attendance, course engagement, and lesson completion for learners. The role coordinates with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify learners who meet or are at risk of meeting attendance and engagement requirements. The individual demonstrates CCA values, complies with all standards, and behaves professionally at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of school attendance and engagement requirements in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Public School Code and school policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of state compulsory attendance requirements and communicate them to enrolled families.
  • Evaluate weekly attendance data, monitor learners with excessive absences or overdue lessons, and respond per resolution protocols.
  • Contact learners who are noncompliant or at risk of noncompliance.
  • Send, track, and record written correspondence regarding attendance violations.
  • Schedule and participate in attendance conferences and meetings with learners, families, and stakeholders.
  • Identify barriers to attendance and engagement, and seek support from school staff and community resources to resolve them.
  • Develop and communicate to learners and caretakers attendance improvement plans.
  • Track learner compliance with improvement plans and respond per protocols.
  • Conduct home and community visits for at‑risk learners.
  • Coordinate referrals to school‑based or community‑based attendance programs or the county children and youth agency.
  • File citations, communicate with courts, and prepare for truancy hearings.
  • Document, organize, and maintain records of communications and data system entries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Primarily sedentary, with occasional lifting, squatting, bending, or standing. Ability to travel to other sites or locations as needed.

Position Type

Full-time, exempt, 12‑month role.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be able to commute to a Family Service Center despite commute complexity.
  • Candidates must reside within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Travel

Travel, including overnight stays, is required.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

5 years of relevant work experience.
