Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Participates in meetings related to attendance, safety, and child services requirements.
  • Supports student experiences outside classroom: field trips, clubs, activities.
  • Ensures enrollment, records, attendance and health compliance.
  • Plans for emergencies in coordination with staff and public safety.
  • Shows commitment to ongoing growth and professional development.
  • Communicates with students with respect and enforces discipline policy.
  • Implements legal requirements and policies, including special education and EL learners.
  • Manages attendance, conduct, and health and interventions.
  • Resolves learner problems escalated by caretakers/teachers.
  • Supports special education services and IEP/504 meetings.
  • Represents LEA at IEP and 504 meetings.
  • Assists with state testing implementation to maximize participation.
  • Supports learner recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Participates in recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
  • Implements Board policies as directed by leadership.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Assistant Principal serves as an educational leader, assisting school leadership in planning, coordinating, and directing activities and programs related to the administration of assigned grade levels or schools. The role includes facilitating an online-based instructional program, supporting inclusive instructional practices, leveraging technology, engaging families, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and reporting to the principal.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities; monitors implementation of approved curriculum considering individual learner needs
  • Contributes to the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate
  • Builds and promotes a positive culture and capacity among designated teams
  • Leads professional learning initiatives for all staff relative to school goals and models continuous growth through personal development
  • Drives initiatives in line with school improvement objectives and collaborates with the School Improvement Team
  • Provides leadership to the professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long‑ and short‑range plans
  • Conducts high‑quality classroom observations and teacher evaluations pursuant to CCA and PDE‑approved guidelines
  • Proactively conducts regular learner outreach, including digital communication and home visits
  • Participates in meetings and hearings related to compulsory attendance, student safety, and children and youth services requirements
  • Supports and participates in out‑of‑classroom student experiences, including field trips, clubs, school‑sponsored activities, and other opportunities
  • Ensures collaborative compliance of student enrollment, records, attendance, and health requirements
  • Plans for and responds to emergency situations in cooperation with staff and public‑safety agencies
  • Demonstrates a visible commitment to ongoing growth and to district and site professional growth programs
  • Communicates with students with mutual respect while implementing CCA's positive and effective discipline policy
  • Implements all federal, state, and school legal requirements, policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those specific to special education, EL learners, and learners with disabilities
  • Takes ownership in managing attendance, conduct, and health of learners and assumes responsibility for appropriate interventions, including attendance improvement conferences and truancy hearings
  • Resolves learner problems escalated by caretakers and teachers
  • Participates in the delivery of special education services to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and school policies
  • Serves as Local Education Agency representative at IEP and 504 meetings
  • Assists with the implementation and coordination of state testing to ensure maximum participation and learner success
  • Engages in learner recruitment efforts including in‑state trips, presentations, Q&A sessions, and media outreach
  • Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new teachers and/or staff
  • Implements all Board policies as directed by the President/CEO, Executive Vice Presidents, and other Senior Administrators
  • All other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend, or stand as necessary and to travel to other sites or locations as needed.
