Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a Research Engineer to support CIRES/NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory’s HORUS, TraceAIR, NGAS-LA, and shipboard gas measurements. You will calibrate, test, and maintain sensors across ground, aircraft, ship, balloon, and autonomous systems, while collaborating with scientists on engineering solutions for measurement needs.

The role starts with in-person work, then a possible hybrid arrangement after an initial training period.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with instrumentation, calibration, and field deployment is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a government facility and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, test, document, maintain and repair atmospheric sensors and gas measurement systems.
  • Provide input to scientists on engineering solutions for measurement needs.
  • Deploy measurement systems to field sites and provide technical support.
  • Guide transition of new observing technologies toward operational research.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
