Job summary

Cox Automotive in Atlanta, GA seeks a senior software engineer to apply secure software engineering principles to design, develop, test, and operate software and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate across teams to translate business needs into scalable, resilient solutions that emphasize security and user experience.

The role requires hands-on experience with modern OO languages, microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, cloud platforms, CI/CD, observability, and mentoring others in an Agile

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience; or a master’s degree with 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. with 1 year; or 12 years’ experience in related field.
• Experience designing, building, maintaining production software in modern OO languages (e.g., C#, Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, Python, C++).
• Strong object-oriented design fundamentals and patterns; knowledge of when not to apply them.
• Experience delivering software in a microservice/SOA environment with API versioning and distributed failure handling.
• Experience designing and consuming HTTP/REST APIs or gRPC/GraphQL; contract design and authentication/authorization.
• Proficiency with relational databases, indexing, transactions, and migrations.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, queues or event streams, and cloud-native services.
• CI/CD practices, Git-based workflows and code review as routine.
• Observability: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident triage.
• Senior ownership: solving ambiguous problems from design to release; mentoring and setting engineering standards.
