Job summary

The Town of Summerville is seeking a Recreation Coordinator - Athletics to plan, promote, and administer a wide range of recreation programs, including youth and adult sports, leagues, and camps. The role involves registrations, scheduling, facility rentals, and staff supervision at the Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex and Gahagan Park.

We expect coordination of volunteers and staff, interaction with families, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, promote, register, organize, and administer leagues, tournaments, recreation programs and events.
• Coordinate equipment and supplies for programs.
• Assist with hiring, supervising, and scheduling staff.
• Recruit volunteer coaches and referees; coordinate training.
• Oversee seasonal youth camps and ensure safe operations.
• Manage registrations and field rentals, including payments and records.
• Communicate with parents about schedules, policies, and registrations.
• Ensure facilities and fields are well-maintained and safe.
