Job summary

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Hawaii seeks an Athletics Program Assistant to support the Athletics Manager in planning, coordinating, and delivering programs for diverse populations. You will lead scheduling during evenings and weekends, assist with curriculum development, and ensure alignment with our mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to learn new software; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Service-oriented team player with initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal, phone, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Valid Hawaii Driver's License and insured transportation (or ability to obtain within 10 days).
• Ability to understand and communicate the Christian mission and values of The Salvation Army.
• Professional attitude, problem-solving skills, and strong motivational and management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Work scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends.
• Support planning, coordination, and delivery of athletics programs and activities.
• Collaborate with coaches and instructors to develop program curriculum, contribute to long-term vision planning, and assist in program delivery.
• Assist gym attendants, coaches, and volunteers in understanding and aligning with The Salvation Army's mission and policies.
• Help organize and facilitate ongoing staff training and screenings.
• Coordinate logistics with vendors and specialty instructors as needed.
• Maintain accurate records, including data entry, statistics, registration files, attendance logs, waivers, and staff documentation.
• Assist with inventory and supplies, including budgeting, ordering, and tracking.
• Communicate with parents regarding injuries, behavior, scheduling, and other concerns.
• Help address participant and parent concerns calmly and professionally; provide excellent customer service.
• Support planning and coordination of safe, educational field trips.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate athletics programming into broader initiatives.
• Participate in staff and management meetings; promote positive collaboration across teams.
• Maintain professional interactions with staff, volunteers, and community members.
• Follow Salvation Army fleet procedures and participate in annual safety certification.
• Adhere to all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
