Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Athletics Program Assistant to assist the Athletics Manager in delivering programming at the Kroc Center Hawaii. The role requires strong communication, a commitment to mission, and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities include coordinating athletics activities, supporting coaches, maintaining records, and ensuring safety and quality of program delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to learn new software; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Service-oriented team player with initiative and adaptability.
• Strong interpersonal, phone, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and insured transportation (or able to obtain within 10 days).
• Ability to understand and communicate The Salvation Army mission and values.
• Professional attitude, problem-solving skills and strong motivation.

Responsibilities

• Work scheduled shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Support planning, coordination, and delivery of athletics programs and activities.
• Collaborate with coaches and instructors to develop curriculum and assist in program delivery.
• Assist gym attendants, coaches, and volunteers in aligning with The Salvation Army’s policies.
• Help organize and facilitate ongoing staff training and screenings.
• Coordinate logistics with vendors and instructors as needed.
• Maintain accurate records including data entry, registrations, attendance, waivers, and staff documentation.
• Assist with inventory, budgeting, ordering, and tracking of supplies.
• Communicate with parents regarding injuries, behavior, scheduling, and concerns.
• Provide excellent customer service and address participant/parent concerns calmly.
• Support planning of safe, educational field trips and cross-department collaboration.
