Job summary

The Town of Surf City in North Carolina is seeking an Athletics Program Assistant to support the PR&T Department by handling clerical tasks, providing customer service, and administering organized athletic leagues, clinics, camps, special events, and programs while supervising the use of athletic fields and facilities. This is a part-time non-exempt position.

Work primarily nights and weekends with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and experience coaching and officiating sports.
• Background in or understanding of youth and/or adult team athletics.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set up, direct, teach, assist, referee, scorekeep, and supervise athletic events.
• Prepare and oversee the use of athletic fields, gymnasiums, and facilities.
• Monitor equipment, report damages, and ensure safety for participants and officials.
• Organize playoffs and tournaments for athletic leagues.
• Greet participants and enforce facility regulations.
• Perform clerical tasks using a computer, respond to inquiries by phone or email.
• Maintain records of volunteer hours and report to the Athletics Supervisor.
• Assist in training athletic volunteers and soliciting private contributions.
