Job summary

Wake Forest University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director, Business Operations, to lead accounting and financial reporting within the Athletics Business Office. The role supports forecasting, budget inputs, and annual reports, coordinating with internal and external audit teams.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or Business Administration plus at least five years of accounting experience; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Budget preparation and management experience.
• Auditing policies, standards, and procedures knowledge.
• Ability to supervise staff and delegate tasks.
• Strong communication skills, written and oral.
• Ability to analyze policy and procedural questions.
• Proficiency with Windows applications and standard office software.
• Ability to work evenings/weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and analyzes internal reports for Athletics, including monthly financial statements and gift funds.
• Assists with annual budget preparation and forecasting; interacts with University Budget Office.
• Coordinates external financial reporting and supports year-end audits.
• Develops improvements to operational processes, including AI-assisted automation.
• Prepares financial analyses and presents findings to Athletics CFO and stakeholders.
• Collaborates with sports personnel to educate on budget management and resources.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
