Job summary

Sonoma State University is seeking a Director of Development for Athletics to lead fundraising efforts for the Seawolf Athletics program. You will manage major gift prospects, cultivate donors, and align philanthropy with university priorities.

The role requires building relationships with donors, volunteers, and university stakeholders, and leading fundraising campaigns with an emphasis on ethical, inclusive practices and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of experience in successful relationship building with prospects, volunteers, and board members.
• Four years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience in athletic fundraising within a university environment and understanding of university culture and corporate partnerships are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop fundraising strategies and direct fundraising activities for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program.
• Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit potential donors for the Athletics Program.
• Coordinate effective communication with donors and prospects; steward alumni and major donors.
• Coordinate gift processing and recruit/train volunteers for the university.
• Support university priorities and collaborate with senior leadership and athletics staff.
