Job summary

Sonoma State University seeks a Director of Development for Athletics to lead fundraising initiatives for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program and to cultivate major gift prospects in alignment with university priorities.

The role reports to the Associate Vice President of Development and collaborates with the Interim Director of Athletics and university leadership to drive philanthropic support and advance Seawolf Athletics and student success.

Qualifications

• Four years of successful relationship-building with donors and volunteers.
• Four years of management or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in athletic fundraising within a university environment preferred.
• Ability to design and implement effective fundraising strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop fundraising strategies and conduct activities to support the Intercollegiate Athletics Program.
• Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit potential donors.
• Coordinate communication with donors and alumni.
• Solicit major gifts and manage gifts processing.
• Recruit, train and motivate volunteers.
• Handle other fundraising projects.
