Job summary

UNC Health in Cary is seeking an Athletic Trainer to support athletic injuries prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as part of a physician extender role. The trainer will perform taping, bracing, fitting of equipment, and carry out prescribed treatments under physician supervision, potentially as an embedded team member in a school with limited supervision.

Requirements include a ATC certification, NC licensure or eligibility (license within 6 months), and BLS for healthcare

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with medical terminology.
• Ability to perform clinical evaluations and deliver patient education.
• BLS for healthcare providers is required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Casting and patient care including splints, braces, crutches, DME, and patient education.
• Answering patient clinical phone calls and complete disability paperwork.
• Educate patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise.
• Rooming patients and updating patient history and chart; order tests as indicated and document history and examinations.
