Job summary

UNC Health’s Department of Orthopaedics in Chapel Hill is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide clinical evaluation and educational skills as a physician extender. The trainer will manage athletic injuries through prevention, assessment, treatment and reconditioning, including taping, bracing and fitting equipment, and following prescribed treatments by the team physician.

This role may be embedded in a school with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification.
• Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible within 6 months of hire.
• BLS for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Casting and patient care including splints, braces, crutches and DME; educate patients on these items.
• Answer patient clinical calls and complete disability paperwork.
• Educate patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercises.
• Obtain patient information, review test results, and order X-ray or lab tests as indicated.
