Reports to the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine. Supervise and coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletic programs for the Campbell University athletic department, working under the medical directions of team physicians and in conjunction with referring physicians, other ancillary medical professionals, and Campbell University staff (athletic training, athletics administration, sport coaching, academics, strength and conditioning, counseling services). Must adhere to NCAA and CAA, Southern Conference, and CCSA institutional rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prevention and Treatment of Athletic-Related Injuries
- Maintain an effective program of preventive care for the University’s athletic teams as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training.
- Follow necessary policies and procedures to provide for the welfare of all student-athletes.
- Schedule and coordinate all physical examinations for student-athletes prior to the start of their sports season; be aware of any chronic medical conditions or special needs.
- Participate in the selection of assistant athletic trainers.
- Notify the coach of assigned sport(s) of all injured student-athletes, informing them of the nature and seriousness of the injury; parents notified only with consent of the student athlete.
- Coordinate all necessary referrals to Campbell University Team Physicians and consult the Sports Medicine staff for external referrals.
- Maintain accurate records and submit insurance claims in a timely manner.
- Athletic Training Facility
- Supervise the efficient operation of the athletic training rooms, including developing procedures and schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of students treated and ensure injury report forms are completed in the electronic medical database.
- Communicate facilities needs to Director of Athletic Training or Head Athletic Trainer; maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Design and implement rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes; communicate progress to head coaches.
- Administrative Duties
- Prepare hardship petitions per NCAA and CAA, Southern Conference, and/or CSCAA guidelines.
- Schedule physician clinics; handle clothing and supply orders for the Sports Medicine Department.
- Maintain inventory, supplies, and equipment across facilities; ensure accurate insurance records and timely submission.
- Coordinate transportation for student-athletes needing medical attention; complete administrative duties assigned by the Director of Athletic Training or Head Athletic Trainer.
- Participate in developing department policies and procedures.
- Game Management Duties
- Coordinate emergency services for athletic events, including EMT presence when appropriate.
- Communicate with visiting athletic trainers before events, providing facility information and emergency contacts.
- Confirm availability of medical personnel and prepare required bench services and amenities for visiting teams.
- Travel for in-season away contests and, when possible, out-of-season contests as directed.
- Academic Responsibilities
- May teach in adjunct positions if time allows, with teaching load not interfering with clinical duties.
- Uphold Campbell University policies including Title IX, HIPAA, FERPA, and other mandates.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or entry‑level Master’s Degree from a CAATE accredited institution.
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field desired.
- NATA BOC certification.
- North Carolina State Athletic Training Licensure or eligibility.
- 2+ years of collegiate or professional athletic training experience desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
