Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $71,600 to $99,500/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $71,600 to $127,400/year.
Work Location: Intercollegiate Athletics - 1001
Working Days and Hours: Monday - Sunday as needed.

Brief Summary of Job Duties

Experienced professional supervising, coordinating and administering all activities related to sports medicine and the Harry Callihan Athletic Training Room. Responsible for the prevention, care, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries with emphasis on overseeing medical treatment and post‑injury return‑to‑play protocols for all intercollegiate athletic programs. Also responsible for administrative duties and maintaining accurate documentation and medical records in accordance with applicable federal, state, university and NCAA regulations and bylaws. Be knowledgeable of and comply with NCAA, Big West and MSPF Conferences, and University rules, policies and regulations applicable to the performance of this position.

Qualifications
  • In‑depth understanding of the Athletic Trainer profession and can independently perform responsibilities of the functions listed.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of campus procurement functions and requirements relating to athletic training room equipment and supplies.
  • Strong collaborative skills with coaches, student athletes, team physician, medical specialists, faculty, staff and others.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters involving athletic injuries and treatments.
  • Strong analytical skills to determine solutions.

Special Conditions of Employment
  • Maintain Certified Athletic Trainer status with the National Athletic Trainers Association. Must be in good standing and attend team practices, home games, and travel with assigned teams as required.
  • Willingness to work long hours as needed during peak times of year.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time
  • 35% Treatment of Injuries: Application and usage of all therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation techniques, and exercise equipment; prevention and treatment of athletic injuries; coordination with physicians; advising coaches on training programs.
  • 25% Training Room Operations: Accurate medical records; prepare insurance claims; determine supplies; maintain inventory; infection control; equipment maintenance; certification coordination; liaison services to sports camps.
  • 15% Coordination of Services: Collaboration with Student Health Services; pre‑participation physicals; coordinate physician appointments; referral system for counseling; communication on injury status and rehabilitation.
  • 10% Athletic Training Internship Program: Direct and administer training program; supervise graduate assistants and student interns; coordinate training room activities.
  • 15% Other: Maintain Certified Athletic Trainer status; ongoing education; conduct workshops and lectures; additional teaching duties; perform additional duties as assigned.
