Job summary

Christopher Newport University is seeking an Athletic Fields Technician to lead our athletics maintenance team and oversee turf tasks across 28 acres of athletic grounds, including fertilization, seeding, sodding, aerification, irrigation, and field layout. You will paint lines and logos, perform landscape bed maintenance, and tackle special projects to support safe, visually appealing facilities.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and VDACS technician

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to become a VDACS Registered Technician within the first 6 months of employment.
• Basic experience in grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead athletics maintenance team and work independently to maintain 28 acres of athletic grounds.
• Oversee turf management: fertilization, pesticide applications, seeding, sodding, aerification, establishment, irrigation, turf repair, field layout and logo painting.
• Landscape bed maintenance and special projects to support athletic facility needs.
