Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY, is seeking a General Athletics Assistant - Temporary to support athletic event operations, facility management, and game day administration. The role focuses on providing a positive experience for student-athletes, officials, spectators, and renters during contests and events.

The position is non-exempt, temporary part-time, with varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holiday work as needed. The hourly rate is $20.00, and E-Verify compliance is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by events.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with game day operations for varsity athletic contests, including setup, event support, and breakdown.
• Support parking operations during athletic events, managing traffic flow and guest direction.
• Conduct facility opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, signage, barricades, tents, and equipment.
• Provide customer service and guidance to visiting teams, officials, spectators, and campus guests.
• Serve as on-site support during external facility rentals, ensuring compliance with policies and rental agreements.
• Monitor facilities during events and report safety or maintenance concerns.
