Job description

Overview of Muncy School District and Community

Muncy School District is located on the west branch of the Susquehanna River in north central Pennsylvania, approximately 12 miles east of Williamsport. Nestled in the picturesque Susquehanna Valley, the area is known for outdoor recreational activities and scenic beauty. The region is rural, featuring quiet residential neighborhoods, farmland, and some industrial areas. It is conveniently situated on a major north-south corridor just north of Interstate 80, providing residents with easy access to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., all within a few hours' drive. The borough of Muncy boasts a library and a historical museum. Additionally, seven colleges and universities nearby offer rich educational and cultural opportunities. The district is affiliated with the Lycoming Career and Technology Center (Lyco CTC), which provides high school students access to quality career and technical programs.

Student Achievements and Traditions

The girls' softball team and parents uphold a cherished tradition of honoring seniors before games. Seniors are celebrated as they are greeted at each base by teammates with gifts such as chocolates, flowers, softball memorabilia, and ornaments, culminating in a ceremonial first pitch thrown to a parent. This touching tradition celebrates their achievements and camaraderie. Wishing all senior softball players a memorable season! (Post 2 of 2) #muncypride

On Wednesday, May 7th, the girls' softball team hosted Sugar Valley. Prior to the game, six seniors—Meaghan Beaghley, Chevelle Bauman, Jailyn Baker, Leah Vest, Savannah Thompson, and Taylor Shannon—were recognized. The team won convincingly with a 15-0 score, improving their record to 9-5. Best wishes for the remainder of the season and future endeavors. (Post 1 of 2) #muncypride

Additional School Activities and Recognitions

Students enjoyed a field trip to the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum, engaging in hands-on discovery. The boys' baseball team hosted Sugar Valley on Monday, May 5th, recognizing three seniors—Liam Adams, Tanner Baker, and Alex Messenger—who contributed to their 6-1 victory. Upcoming games include a match against Bucktail on Thursday at 4:30 pm and a home game against Montgomery on Saturday at 1 pm. Good luck to the teams! #muncypride

Last week marked the retirement of Vickie Conner, our school secretary, after 41 years of dedicated service. The Myers Tribe celebrated her contributions, and she was wished a joyful retirement. She will be missed!

Congratulations and best wishes to Ken Hampe, who signed his letter of intent to play football at Lock Haven University. We look forward to hearing about his success both on and off the field!

Seventh and eighth-grade students had the opportunity to choose activities to reward their efforts on the Math PSSA test. Options included outdoor Nitro Ball, watching the movie Shrek in the auditorium, or participating in Brushes & Beats (painting in the art room). Every student earned this reward through hard work. We are proud of all of you! #muncypride

Six sixth-grade students represented Muncy at the Northern Songfest in Montoursville on April 25. Thanks to Mrs. Doebler for leading the group and making this experience memorable. Great job, everyone!

On April 29, 25 students competed in the Lycoming-Sullivan County Envirothon, covering topics like wildlife, aquatics, forestry, soils, and current issues. The team of Adi Eyer, Stiles Eyer, Alex Messenger, Aaron Kerstetter, and Chase Stabler placed 1st in forestry and 2nd overall out of 28 teams. Congratulations to all participants!
