Emory University is seeking an Athletics Equipment Manager and Event Manager to lead Woodruff PE Center facility operations in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities and Events and Athletics staff. This role oversees equipment, laundry, travel prep, and event support for home contests.

You will manage inventory, maintenance, and game-day operations, supervise student staff, ensure NCAA compliance, coordinate with coaches, and provide on-call facility support.

Job description

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Facilities and Events and Athletics and Recreation personnel in leading Woodruff PE Center facility operations
  • Serve as athletics equipment manager and primary event manager for select home athletic contests
  • Manage receiving, cleaning, repair, maintenance, inventory, issuance, collection, and storage of intercollegiate and recreation equipment
  • Prepare equipment and clothing for travel and home games
  • Oversee student-athlete uniform laundry and loop system
  • Communicate with coaches and events staff regarding schedules, uniform care, and team needs
  • Maintain washers and dryers and order sport-specific chemicals
  • Analyze equipment serviceability and performance and advise coaches and staff
  • Purchase athletic and recreation equipment
  • Supervise game day management, physical setup and breakdown, athletic field lining and striping, visiting-team and official communications, camps, clinics, and rentals
  • Collaborate on game management policies, procedures, equipment organization, staff training, and contest operations
  • Identify and communicate facilities issues
  • Assist with supervision and training of student staff
  • Serve on NCAA host management team, attend meetings, provide on-call facility support, respond to emergencies, provide customer service, resolve conflicts, and perform additional duties
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in sport management, physical education, recreation/leisure administration, higher education, or related field, and one year of related experience in varsity athletics equipment room and/or athletic event experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience in varsity athletics equipment room and/or athletic event operations
  • Ability to collaborate with Athletics and Recreation personnel, coaches, staff, visiting teams, and officials
  • Ability to supervise and train student staff
  • Knowledge and compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility regulations and NCAA Principles of Ethical Conduct
  • Ability to provide emergency care and serve as a first responder
  • Ability to provide customer service, resolve conflicts, and make decisions regarding program and facility usage
  • Ability to work on-call and perform duties in person at an Emory University location
