Athletic Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare a master sports calendar for practices, games/and events.
- Maintains practice and game schedules on Google Calendar.
- Generates and distributes team schedules.
- Ensures all officials are scheduled for home contests.
- Assist with requests for gymnasium, building, and field use. Coordinate gym and field use for practices and games.
- Determines weather conditions relative to practices and games to ensure safe travel and playing conditions. Determine when cancellations are necessary.
- Collaborate with coaching staff and transportation supervisors to schedule transportation to games, meets, and competitions.
- Hire and supervise coaches for the athletic program.
- Enforce the school's concussion policy. Determine activities susceptible to concussion and ensure coaches have concussion training.
- Hold coaches and players’ meetings before each season to share information about Athletic policies.
- Ensures the eligibility of athletes by checking physicals and verifying that participation eligibility paperwork is complete.
- Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and students/parents/guardians.
- Assist in the supervision of home athletic contests.
- Submit a yearly athletic budget to the Business Manager.
- Maintain uniform inventory and process for distribution and collection.
- Maintain equipment inventory and replacement plan.
- Report monthly to the school board pertinent athletic information through the Principal’s report.
- Maintain an advisory and approval role with any athletic fundraisers.
Qualifications
- Holds a valid Maine administrator certificate other than a Teaching Principal’s certificate
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with children is strongly preferred.
- Ability to proficiently use Google (calendar, mail, drive). Ability to type accurately and proficiently and use the school’s SIS system.
- Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, and members of the community. Ability to exercise sound judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
- Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, bloodborne pathogen training, and blood spill training.
