Job summary

Portland Public Schools’ Deering High School in Portland, Maine seeks a Co-Curricular Director to lead athletics and student activities, fostering equity, academic focus, and well-being under the Principal and district priorities.

The role oversees budgets, hires and evaluates coaches, ensures compliance with MPA/SMAA, collaborates with City Rec and boosters, and guides MTSS/PBIS implementation to strengthen school culture and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field or administration.
• Five years of successful coaching experience.
• School-based or district leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, oversees and manages the budget for athletics and activities.
• Supervises, evaluates, and hires coaches/advisors.
• Ensures compliance with Maine Principals Association (MPA) and SMAA.
• Collaborates with City Rec department and other city staff for field time and space.
• Oversees transportation for athletic events and field trips.
• Attends district, state and league meetings representing the school.
