Job summary

Portland Public Schools in Portland, ME, seeks a Co-Curricular Director for Deering High School to lead athletics, activities, and culture with an equity-first focus. Under the Principal's guidance, the role oversees budget, hires coaches, ensures MPA/SMAA/Title IX compliance, and collaborates with City Rec and district staff to optimize facilities and opportunities.

Requires Master’s degree and five years coaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in supervision/educational administration or closely related field.
• Five years of coaching experience.
• Maine State Athletic Director 215 Certification.

Responsibilities

• Develops, oversees and manages the budget for all athletics and activities.
• Supervises, evaluates, and hires all coaches and advisors.
• Administers all regulations of the Maine Principals Association (MPA) and Southern Maine Activities Association (SMAA).
• Collaborates with the City Rec department and other City staff for field time and space availability.
• Works with the athletic Booster organization.
• Manages compliance with Title IX laws and regulations.
• Oversees transportation for athletic events and field trips.
• Attends meetings representing the school.
• Organizes events such as Open Houses and coaches meet-ups.
• Familiar with district policies and district technology platforms.
