Job summary

NC State University seeks an Assistant Learning Specialist (Intern) in Raleigh, NC, to provide hands-on experience in academic support for student-athletes. You will work with a team to assist under‑prepared students, develop academic skills, and support pathways to college success.

The internship runs Oct 1, 2026 to May 14, 2027, with opportunities to lead small group sessions and contribute to summer programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or must have completed all requirements for master’s degree with the exception of internship completion.
• Experience supervising young adults in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Meet with a caseload of under‑prepared students to develop academic skills, time management skills, learning techniques, and content acquisition.
• Monitor academic progress and maintain communication with academic coordinators and supervisors.
• Collaborate with a team of learning specialists to support academically under‑prepared student‑athletes in one‑on‑one and group sessions.
• Develop and deliver professional development workshops for support staff, including academic mentors, writing assistants, and tutors.
• Assist with screening, assessment, and the development of academic support plans in collaboration with ASPSA’s associate director and academic coordinators.
