North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics (NCSSM) seeks an Athletics Professional, Specialist (NS) to provide leadership and administrative support to the Athletic Director for the Durham campus. This 11‑month, exempt professional staff role requires in-person work and oversight of varsity sports operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with preferences for degree in Recreation, Sports Management, College Student Personnel or Education.
• Minimum of two years experience working in a recreation, athletics, sports management, or education setting.
• Experience training and supervising individuals.

Responsabilités

• Facilities Operations and Management: Coordinate setup of varsity sports events; manage PAW facilities’ reservations and schedules; recruit, train, schedule and supervise PAW evening and weekend supervisors; monitor facilities for safety, maintenance and utilization needs; liaise with Plant Facilities for repairs and annual upkeep; schedule and supervise campus service students for PAW.
• Administration and Compliance: Process temporary Employee contracts including coaches and PEC Supervisors; ensure eligibility and maintain NCHSAA rosters for all student athletes.
• Leadership and Interscholastic Varsity Sports Support: Provide leadership to PAW staff and coaches; serve as Administrative Representation for Interscholastic Varsity Sports events; assist in planning varsity coach and team meetings; oversee home varsity events hosted off-campus; coordinate uniform distribution and collection.
• Recreational and Community Engagement: Plan and implement monthly recreational and wellness activities; develop a monthly calendar; evaluate programs for effectiveness and engagement; liaison for club sports and sponsors.
• Budget and Purchasing: Procure PAW supplies, equipment and uniforms; reconcile monthly budgets; manage gate receipts and concession transactions; process travel for varsity teams.
• Student Support: Coordinate with Counseling Services and Academic Programs to support student athletes’ wellbeing; facilitate focus groups to evaluate program effectiveness.
