The Assistant Admissions Director oversees the admissions department and admission activities during the assigned shift. The Assistant Director assigns responsibilities to ensure prompt response to patient needs, reviews, maintains all documents and departmental logs, and assigns physicians to admitted patients. The Assistant Director also performs Admissions Counselor responsibilities, providing telephonic and in-person risk assessments, crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinating the referral and intake process, determining the appropriate level of care, and maintaining communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Assistant Director supervises department staff, including daily schedule assignments, call management, orientation, and coordination of quality improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Admissions Director.
