Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications to lead the Athletics Communications/Media Relations unit. reporting to the Senior Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications, you will guide a nine-plus person team, coordinating social media, web stories and news releases while protecting and promoting the Carolina Athletics brand.

You will work with coaches, student-athletes and external media, while supporting revenue

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years or equivalent leadership in marketing/communications.
• 5+ years of related professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field.
• Experience leading a media relations team and pitching stories.
• Ability to monetize digital content to meet sponsorship and revenue objectives.
• Strong writing, editing, graphics and storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Athletics Communications/Media Relations unit and oversee planning, editing and storytelling.
• Coordinate social media and web stories, news releases, and events coverage.
• Support revenue generation and recruiting objectives through content strategies.
• Advise the athletics director on external and internal communications.
• Recruit and manage student workers.
• Collaborate with creative services, marketing and sponsorship teams; ensure compliance with regulations.
