Buchart Horn is seeking an accomplished Associate Vice President – Transportation to help lead our Transportation Business Unit. This is a strategic, senior-level role focused on civil and transportation engineering project delivery, operations, staff development, and business growth. If you’re a licensed Professional Engineer with deep experience in transportation engineering and a passion for leadership, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide leadership across transportation engineering projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and compliance with contract requirements
- Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the Business Unit, including staffing, resource planning, and performance reviews
- Contribute to annual business planning, sales forecasting, and budgeting in alignment with corporate objectives
- Supervise and mentor project managers, engineers, and support staff to drive high-performance project delivery
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and scopes; assist with resource allocation and technical oversight as needed
- Participate in proposal preparation, fee development, contract negotiation, and client presentations
- Support and implement Business Unit’s policies and initiatives, including performance management and process improvements
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients and identify new business opportunities through networking and outreach
- Collaborate with other corporate leaders on multi-disciplinary pursuits and project coordination
- Oversee project reviews, QA/QC standards, and technical excellence in all phases of design and delivery
- Maintain current knowledge of transportation engineering practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements
- Represent Buchart Horn at client meetings, industry events, and professional conferences
QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Prior leadership or management experience in an engineering consulting environment
- Strong understanding of DOT standards, transportation funding, and infrastructure development process
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and technical performance across multiple active projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead client relationships, strategic initiatives, and business development efforts
