Job summary

Pennoni Associates is seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our Clearwater or Tampa, FL offices. The role involves assisting with complex traffic engineering tasks on highway and bridge projects, leading traffic studies, and developing TMPs, TIS, MOT schemes, and ADA/curb ramp designs.

You’ll support FDOT-related initiatives and cultivate client relationships. Required are a Civil Engineering bachelor's (Master's a plus) and 4–8 years’ experience, with proficiency in Microstation,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree a plus
• 4–8 years of work experience in traffic engineering
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex traffic engineering tasks on highway and bridge projects.
• Lead and develop traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Signage and pavement marking design.
• Develop Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans.
• Develop Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS).
• ADA design and curb ramp design.
• FDOT access management, TSM&O and Complete Streets initiatives.
• Develop project cost estimates and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff (e.g., CAD).
• Experience with traffic-related software packages (Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA).
• Experience with FDOT and similar public sector clients; Counties, Cities, Townships
• Developing client relationships with Public and Private Clients.
