Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a full-time Associate Author at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area to assist in planning, developing, and delivering customer instructional content.

You will author using DITA-based XML and InDesign, collaborate with localization and product teams, and help reuse existing content to cut costs while maintaining accuracy.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience in technical writing or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with DITA/XML authoring and InDesign is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to author clear, concise content using DITA/XML in an XML CMS.
• Collaborate with localization to plan localized deliverables.
• Work with product teams to reuse content and improve efficiency.
• Develop illustrations with graphics professionals to aid understanding.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues using proper tools and processes.
• Assist in documenting project requirements, scopes, and timelines.
