Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking an Associate System Operator to support the safe, reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System from generating station substations through distribution substations.

You will participate in training activities, assist with field switching, and aid in emergency actions, working with leadership to protect system integrity and ensure reliability on a 24/7 basis. The role offers structured training, real-time exposure, and opportunities to obtain industry certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with coursework in mathematics, electrical theory or a related technical field.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work all System Operations shifts in a 24/7 environment.
• Ability to obtain NERC Certification within six months of hire.
• Successful completion of the EEI SOPD assessment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in training activities to develop knowledge for Bulk Electric System operation.
• Assist with field switching operations by authorized personnel.
• Support actions during emergency conditions to protect transmission system integrity.
• Collaborate with leadership and utilities to maintain reliable operations 24/7.
• Monitor system conditions and recommend corrective actions for abnormalities.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, reliability standards, and regulatory requirements.
