Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking an Associate System Engineer in Cheyenne, USA. You will join a team to design, implement, and maintain critical facility infrastructure in telecom rooms, partnering with vendors and internal teams to ensure high availability of systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with rack installation, mounting, and infrastructure in computer rooms or data closets.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and power technologies.
• Understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, and PC hardware/software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and project management tools.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (APC StruxureWare, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps) desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
• Professional collaboration, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Must be U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S., at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop solutions for critical facilities and infrastructure challenges.
• Ensure system and infrastructure availability; troubleshoot escalations of low to medium complexity.
• Assist with implementation and updates to the critical facilities strategy and roadmap.
• Track and maintain technology trends within the region of responsibility.
• Meet commitments and deliverables on assigned tasks.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, replacing defective components.
• Provide technical guidance and support for system development and troubleshooting.
• Review test procedures and quality standards with engineering team.
• Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.
