Job summary

American Airlines in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Senior Engineer, IT Aviation to lead security design and implementation for aerospace IT systems. You will drive security-focused engineering, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and shape risk-based decisions for aviation technology.

The role requires a Bachelor Degree and 2+ years in security architecture, PKI, and related domains, with exposure to cloud and virtualization.

Qualifications

• Four year college education in Data Technology, IT Security, Organization Systems Technology or related specialized discipline, or identical experience/training.
• 2 years of involvement with security technology plan
• 2 years of organization, server, and application frameworks development experience
• 2 years planning, delivering, and managing PKI and cryptographic arrangements
• 2 years involved experience with Identity and Access arrangements
• 2 years experience on Network Security and VPN arrangements
• 2+ years' involvement with NIST 800 series structures
• Application coding and prearranging through Python, SQL, Slam, or PowerShell
• Capable in Cloud advancements and risk assessment standards (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS)
• Capable in Agile and SDLC practices

Responsibilities

• Use online protection ability to drive the technical exploration, planning, and design of systems related to modern aircraft to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
• Defines, develops, and communicates security requirements and standards spanning multiple security domains.
• Provides internal security guidance to teams supporting aircraft, ground, and comms systems.
• Supports policies and compliance activities according to cybersecurity perspectives for FAA and other regulators.
• Interacts with industry partners like Flying ISAC, IATA Security Team, and oneworld partners.
• Assists with cyber incidents related to AA's flight developments.
• Keeps artifacts and work items up-to-date to support system review, software development, and quality assurance of aircraft operations.
• Ensures aircraft systems and endpoints are scanned using vulnerability management tools and practices.
• Collaborates with business, IT, and IS Risk to remediate findings promptly while addressing risk with acceptable targets.
• Demonstrates continuous improvement mindset.
• Maintains a proactive approach to troubleshooting, planning, and scheduling for clarity and compliance.
• Works flexible hours when required by the role and activity.
