E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking an Associate Substation Engineer to support a major electric utility client in the greater Southwest region. The role focuses on substation design deliverables including general arrangement drawings, equipment plans, and grounding analyses, reporting to a Substation Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-approved program.
• 1–3 years of experience in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform substation physical design activities including drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
• Conduct self-checking to ensure quality before review.
• Prepare CAD drawings with neatness and minimal errors.
• Develop engineering calculations for conduit, bus sizing, lighting, and grounding analyses.
• Ensure designs conform to client and industry standards.
• Coordinate project activities with senior engineer and project manager.
• Utilize client/company systems to track design progress.
• Attend site meetings to gather scope of work.
• Assist in responding to RFIs during construction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
