Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller’s Paper Converting Machine Company seeks a Supply Chain Buyer to ensure timely material availability and support production schedules. You will perform purchasing and supplier activities in accordance with policies and ERP best practices to grow procurement knowledge.

You’ll help maintain data, track supplier performance, and collaborate with planning, operations, engineering, and quality teams to optimize material availability and costs.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of purchasing, supply chain, planning, manufacturing, internship, or related business experience.
• APICS, ASCM, CPSM certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create, release, and maintain purchase orders and schedule agreements in the ERP system.
• Monitor supplier delivery commitments and communicate schedule changes as needed.
• Follow up with suppliers regarding order acknowledgements, delivery dates, and shipment status.
• Maintain accurate purchasing data, supplier information, pricing records, and system parameters.
• Support inventory management by helping maintain proper stocking levels and minimizing shortages.
• Assist with supplier performance tracking (delivery, quality, responsiveness).
• Collaborate with planning, operations, engineering, and quality teams to support material availability.
• Participate in daily production and supply chain meetings to communicate material status.
• Assist with supplier issue resolution and escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Support quotation requests and supplier sourcing under guidance of senior team members.
• Assist in cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
• Generate reports and analyze purchasing and inventory data as assigned.
• Learn and apply procurement best practices and supply chain processes.
• Support ERP system initiatives and process improvement.
