Job Summary:
The Solution Architect (SA) role within Belden's Global Products & Solutions (GPS) organization is a technical expert and resource for our teams, producing solutions for various markets, applications, and use cases. The SA assesses, designs, develops, builds, and validates solutions by leveraging in-depth knowledge of Belden's portfolio. They lead efforts in developing use cases, documenting best practices, and are SME on multi-disciplinary teams. Innovation and sharing technology insights are part of their daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with key internal and external project stakeholders to detail requirements for solutions.
- Evaluate design requirements from customers and/or partners. Provide feedback and guidance for greenfield and brownfield project designs.
- Develop solution architectures that inform product development initiatives and guide customer engagements.
- Document industrial network and digital automation network designs, including design prerequisites, topology drawings, reports, configuration procedures, performance metrics, and demonstrations.
- Validate solution architectures and report results of Proof-of-Concept (PoC) testing.
- Stay educated on industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies influencing future design innovation.
- Document standard practices and common designs utilizing Belden technologies, and share knowledge with targeted audiences.
- Report project and customer feedback to Sales, Product Management, and Engineering/R&D.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years in network engineering, design, and implementation.
- Experience with mission-critical network design/architecture.
- Experience navigating converged IT/OT environments and deploying tools for SCADA, NMS, and ICS. Bonus: experience with edge orchestration, cloud integration, wireless systems, or cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of standards like IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.11, IEC 62443. Bonus: IEC 61499, LTE/5G, Nerc CIP, IEC 61850.
- Exposure to coding in Python, Java, Bash, Node-Red, or similar; experience with data engineering or analytics is a bonus.
- Proven track record in a relevant market/industry.
- Engineering degree focusing on Ethernet networking, industrial systems & controls, or high-reliability communications.
