Job Summary:

The Solution Architect (SA) role within Belden's Global Products & Solutions (GPS) organization is a technical expert and a resource for our teams as they produce solutions for various markets, applications, and use cases. The SA assesses, designs, develops, builds, and validates solutions by leveraging in-depth knowledge of Belden's portfolio. The SA leads efforts in developing use cases, documenting best practices, and being a subject matter expert (SME) on multi-disciplinary teams. Innovation and sharing technology insights internally and externally are part of their daily tasks.

Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with key internal and external project stakeholders to detail requirements for solutions.
2. Evaluate design requirements from customers and/or partners. Provide feedback and guidance for greenfield and brownfield project designs.
3. Develop solution architectures that inform product development initiatives and guide customer engagements.
4. Document industrial network and/or digital automation network designs, including design prerequisites, topology drawings, reports, configuration procedures, performance metrics, and demonstrations.
5. Validate solution architectures and report results of Proof-of-Concept (PoC) testing.
6. Stay informed on industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies that influence future design innovation.
7. Document standard practices and common designs for use cases utilizing Belden technologies, and actively share knowledge with targeted audiences.
8. Report project and customer feedback to Sales, Product Management, and Belden Engineering/R&D.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in network engineering, design, and implementation.
• Experience with mission-critical network design/architecture.
• Experience navigating converged IT/OT environments and deploying tools for SCADA, NMS, and ICS. Experience with edge orchestration, cloud integration, wireless systems, or cybersecurity is a bonus.
• Deep knowledge of technical standards like IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.11, IEC 62443. Experience with IEC 61499, cellular technologies (LTE/5G), NERC CIP, or IEC 61850 is a bonus.
• Exposure to coding in Python, Java, Bash, Node-Red, and/or other relevant languages in industrial automation or cloud computing. Experience with data engineering or analytics projects is a bonus.
• Proven track record in a network engineering role relevant to the Belden organization.
• Engineering degree focusing on Ethernet networking, industrial systems & controls, or low latency & high reliability digital communications.
