Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital seeks an Associate Scientist for the Single Cell Genomics Core and Neurocytometry Core in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology.

The role supports neural tissue dissociation, single-cell sequencing, and multicolor flow cytometry with training and protocol optimization. The candidate will operate and troubleshoot 10x Genomics Chromium workflows, design high-parameter cytometry panels, and train researchers across the division to generate high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field is required.
• 7+ years of research experience; Master’s degree allows 5+ years.
• 2+ years of research with a PhD; leadership experience preferred.
• Experience leading and coordinating research experiments preferred.
• Prior training of technicians, students, or investigators is a plus.
• Proven ability to perform independent, high-quality experiments.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or new protocols.
• Accurately record procedures and data for reporting and publication.
• Prepare results for posters, presentations, or publications.
• Set up and troubleshoot protocols with new or modified techniques.
• Coordinate sample intake, QC, and sequencing scheduling for cores.
• Perform single-cell sample processing and sequencing platform loading.
• Maintain SOPs for flow cytometers and related instrumentation.
• Train users on cytometry concepts, startup, maintenance, and analysis.
• Collaborate to develop high-parameter cytometry panels and assays.
• Provide ongoing support for equipment maintenance and purchasing needs.
