Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, is seeking an Associate Scientist for the Single Cell Genomics Core and Neurocytometry Core.

You will support single-cell sample processing, sequencing workflows, flow cytometry, instrument operation, and multicolor panel design. The role emphasizes hands-on operation, troubleshooting, and training, with collaboration across the Department of Developmental Neurobiology to optimize tissue dissociation and library preparation for diverse

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area
7+ years of research experience (or 5+ with a Master's, or 2+ with a PhD)
Experience leading and supporting research experiments and coordinating lab activities
Experience with single-cell genomic workflows and neural tissue dissociation
Proficiency in flow cytometry and multicolor panel design
Strong communication and training skills

Responsibilities

Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or newly developed techniques/protocols
Accurately record experimental procedures and data
Prepare and report results/data for posters, presentations or publications
Set up protocols using new or modified techniques and troubleshoot experiments
Coordinate sample intake, QC, and sequencing run scheduling for the Core
Train technicians, students, and investigators on cytometry concepts
Collaborate to develop and optimize multicolor flow cytometry assays
Perform regular cell sorting services and support cytometry-based approaches
Maintain equipment, ordering, and SOPs; ensure uptime and quality control
Maintain regular and predictable attendance
