Associate Scientist, R&D - Packaging Dev

The Kraft Heinz Research & Development team is seeking an Associate Scientist – Packaging Dev. This position offers opportunities to support and lead packaging development initiatives focused on innovation, renovation, and maintenance within our North American R&D units. The role involves engaging with cross-functional teams to bring innovations to market and enhance technical packaging skills.

Job Duties:

1. Develop and implement new package launches from concept to commercialization, including technical drawings, material specifications, and artwork & graphics.
2. Optimize packaging quality.
3. Support complex projects and lead lower complexity projects as a proactive technical resource.
4. Collaborate with business teams on initiatives such as innovation, renovation, sustainability, brand maintenance, cost optimization, and strategy.
5. Manage deliverables to meet R&D timelines.
6. Build and lead primary packaging specifications and related databases.
7. Design and conduct plant trials with various products and packaging materials.
8. Develop secondary and tertiary packaging, including corrugated cases and pallet standards.
9. Write technical trial reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. in Packaging, Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in the food or consumer products industry preferred.
• Leadership skills and understanding of commercialization and margin improvement programs across multiple technologies.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% based on business needs.
• Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize projects and routine tasks.
• Desire for continuous learning.
