IntelliScript is a practice within Milliman that provides health and life insurers with real-time data and underwriting decision support tools via software-as-a-service (SaaS). IntelliScript offers an innovative suite of products which interpret and deliver electronic medical data (such as prescription histories, diagnoses, treatment data, etc.) to help our clients make effective underwriting and pricing decisions. The Associate Data Scientist will be integral as we continue to bring innovative new products to market in response to client needs and opportunities. The Associate Data Scientist will build upon their data science, GenAI, analytics, and/or actuarial experience to develop intimate knowledge of our current product capabilities and provide advanced analytical expertise to enhance these products through new solutions. Projects will include construction, validation, documentation and delivery of sophisticated machine learning and GenAI solutions for a variety of healthcare-related problems.

What you will be doing

The key area of responsibility in the role of Associate Data Scientist is to work in conjunction with our product teams and under the guidance of more experienced Data Scientists to develop and implement models to interpret structured and unstructured clinical data.

  • Develop and maintain machine learning and GenAI models under the supervision of more experienced professionals
  • Assist in the deployment of models and closely coordinate with IT, Product, and other departments as needed
  • Help bring new products into production by being part of a team that develops and monitors data pipelines
  • Peer review and maintain models built by other team members

What we need

  • 1+ years of professional experience using machine learning, analytics, or actuarial in one of the following industries: healthcare, insurance, clinical trials, or similar fields
  • Demonstrable capability building machine learning models using methods such as linear regression, gradient-boosted decision trees, clustering, or similar techniques
  • Programming experience in at least one of: R, Python, Databricks, AWS, or SQL

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is August 30, 2025. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

The overall salary range for this role is $65,200 - $151,440. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:
  • $71,720 - $114,620 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and
  • $86,680 - $138,820 for experience greater than 2 years.
  • New York City, Newark, San Jose, or San Francisco:
  • $78,240 - $125,040 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and
  • $94,560 - $151,440 for experience greater than 2 years.
  • All other states:
  • $65,200 - $104,200 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and
  • $78,800 - $126,200 for experience greater than 2 years.

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
