Job summary

Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA, is seeking an Associate Scientist - Cellular Assay Development, Functional Genomics to join a cross-functional team advancing target and biological discovery across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.

You will conduct mammalian cell culture, transfection, transduction, and high-content imaging to characterize cellular phenotypes and drive mechanistic insights. Strong collaboration across TD&B and disease teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 1 year drug discovery experience or
• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years drug discovery experience
• Strong background in cellular and molecular biology

Responsibilities

• Support execution of functional arrayed genomic screens with cross-functional partners
• Carry out mammalian cell culture, transfection, transduction, and functional assays
• Optimize and miniaturize cell-based assays for high-throughput screening
• Leverage high-content imaging to profile cellular phenotypes and states
• Collaborate with TD&B and automation teams to accelerate model deployment
• Collaborate with therapeutic area scientists to ensure biological relevance
• Foster a collaborative, rigorous team culture delivering impact
