Job summary

Lee Health, in affiliation with FSU College of Medicine, seeks an Associate Program Director to support the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Cape Coral Hospital. The APD will assist the Program Director to oversee didactic and clinical education across sites, manage faculty evaluation, and ensure timely ACGME submissions.

The candidate will have an accredited Internal Medicine residency, Florida license or eligibility, DEA, and 3+ years in teaching or leadership within GME, with

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Residency Program in Internal Medicine and board certification (or eligibility).
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain this prior to start date.
• Clear, unrestricted DEA.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a teaching or faculty capacity with a graduate medical education program.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS credentials through the American Heart Association.
• Must comply with all ACGME core faculty requirements.
• 3 years of successful academic experience in graduate medical education preferred.
• Educational and administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the quality of didactic and clinical education at all sites participating in the Program.
• Evaluate Program faculty and approve continued participation based on evaluation.
• Prepare and submit information requested by the ACGME in a timely manner.
• Notify the Review Committee of accreditation status changes.
• Ensure compliance with grievances and due process procedures as per institutional requirements.
• Provide verification of residency education for all residents.
• Monitor residents' duty hours and work environment; adjust schedules to mitigate fatigue.
• Provide backup coverage when patient census requires it.
• Comply with policies for selection, evaluation, and promotion of residents.
• Maintain permanent records and document training, including rotations.
• Provide residents with performance evaluations twice a year.
• Oversee coordination of lectures and attendance tracking.
